A silver and enamel device with equal sides, 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a white lozenge surmounted by a red lozenge all surmounted in the middle by a vertical silver sword, point up, placed in the middle of the blade a silver star. Attached above the device a circular blue scroll inscribed "RIDE TO THE SOUND" and below a circular blue scroll inscribed "OF THE GUNS" in silver.
Red is the color traditionally used by the Support units. The lozenge, the heraldic symbol for constancy, denotes the Group's steadfastness of the support missions to coordinate training, deployment, redeployment, and inactivation requirements for assigned or attached active and/or reserve units. The sword represents military readiness. The star suggests the command and control structure of the Group. The star and the red, white, and blue colors are adapted from the flag of Texas, the unit's home state.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 6 October 2006.
